► (18151903) Filósofo francés, iniciador del neocriticismo, que continúa, modificándola, la doctrina de Kant. Fundamenta sus teorías en las idea de que la libertad es también posible en el mundo fenoménico. Expone su doctrina en Ensayos de crítica general (1854-96), vasta obra de conjunto que comprende diversos títulos y en la que se propone la eliminación de todo «ente transcendente» al conocimiento.
